Course Description “Targeted Therapy and the Brain Cancer Microenvironment”

This program discusses the history of targeted therapies in brain cancer and the emerging role of immuno-oncology treatments. It gives an overview of the role of the tumor microenvironment and how it impacts immune response. The content covers the role of checkpoint inhibitors in brain cancer and provides a summary of existing clinical evidence. Finally, the program describes combinatorial treatment strategies and their impact on immune response.

Objectives

Upon completion of this program, clinicians will be able to:

• Discuss the history of targeted therapy for brain cancer

• Correctly identify components of the tumor microenvironment involved in immune response

• Accurately describe the role of targeted therapies in brain cancer

• Identify guideline-based therapies involving targeted therapies for brain cancer

• Describe combinatorial treatment strategies and their impact on immune response

• Discuss biomarkers for patient response in targeted therapies

Oncologists, neurologists, primary care physicians, and other clinicians who manage patients with brain cancer.
